Title: Genre Matters: A Workshop on Continuity in Academic and Scientific Writing
This workshop aims to equip participants with valuable insights on selecting the appropriate writing genres for continuity in various EFL and ESL contexts. Two engaging 45-minute sessions will be devoted to genre selection and using various writing formats for General English (EGP), English for Academic Purposes (EAP), English for Specific Purposes (ESP), and English for Professional Purposes (EPP) programs at a range of language proficiency levels (A2 to C1). Participants will gain a deeper understanding how genres influence the organization and structure of academic and scientific writing and how to ensure students’ seamless learning experience.
In the first session, participants will engage in an interactive discussion to understand the role of genre in establishing coherence and continuity throughout written academic and scientific works. The second session will build upon the outcomes of the first session and provide an opportunity for a follow-up discussion. Together, we will critically analyze the impact of genre selection on maintaining a consistent and coherent scholarly voice. Participants will have the chance to discuss their experiences and share insights, leading to a more comprehensive understanding of effective genre integration in academic and scientific writing.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have developed a greater awareness of how genre selection influences the continuity and coherence of their academic and scientific writing. Join us at "Genre Matters: A Workshop on Continuity in Academic and Scientific Writing" as we explore the crucial role of genre in shaping impactful scholarly communication.
